Customer Review: Horrible horrible horrible, over 60% FAIL rate
I have used these units in several buildings. The biggest building being an 8 unit building all with 1 bedroom apartments. Each apartment has it own hot water heater. We have OVER a 60% fail rate. First you do a LOT of electrical work to get to the point of being able to install it. Then you put it in and this what progresses: - day one works great and you think "what a great idea I had"... - few weeks or months later it is hot for a minute, then warm, then cold as it runs - you reset the unit try and test everything, it works ok you think - get a call a day later it is the same warm then cold then warm showers - you take it out and return it to the store. I have replaced 3 yes THREE in one single apartment alone. All in all I bought 8, for an 8 unit building, and have installed either new or replacements 18, in a eight unit building that only has 8 on any given day, at this time. I am a whiz at getting them in...
Customer Review: hmmmm
Works great most of the year. When it is 50 degrees or less, the water tempurature declines. Through the peak of the winter, it's pretty much a cold shower. Customer service is very pleasant and willing to help. They have sent us 2 replacements (the last one was a larger size)at no extra cost to us, but still having the same problem every winter. We are looking into a larger one again. Our house is 2 bath. I still won't ever go back to a tank.

Customer Review: Fine for most people most of the time...
I've owned and used both the black steel model (5030) and this stainless one (5029). There are 2 things missing on the stainless model that my black 5030 had: 1) There are no dampers in the lid to help regulate smoke/heat and 2) The body does not rotate a few degrees and come up-off the base. You have to reach down in this model to clean the pan around the element and empty ashes. I miss both of these features. Tips: --Soak wood chunks overnight, at a minimum. As soon as you open the lid to take food out or open the door to check your wood, it's pretty easy to start a fire in the bottom. Wood that is soaked to the center really helps. --The first time you use it, turn the dial to low and let it heat up. You may be temped to crank it up, but the element will stay on without occasionally turning off -- good way to start a fire. --Unplug before spraying hose in bottom to put out fire. You'll end up wandering around the house trying to find which GFI ...
Customer Review: Wish to top fit better
This is a replacement for another (not stainless) smoker. It is as advertised, quite easy to assemble, however, the cover should fit more snuggly as to retain more of the heat. Other than that - a fine unit.

Customer Review: Like the unit- VERIFY YOUR SERVICE!
The unit works well. Was easily installed. Water heat is fine for our small-demand house (2bed/2bath/1500SF). The only thing that takes some getting used to is the minimum flow requirement. There's no way to get any hot water without turning a given fauct on at over 50% capacity. And single-knob showers can get a little tricky to balance. NOTEZ BIEN: Before installing, verify that your grid tie-in is sufficient. My panel is 200A, but the utility company tied in with a wire only capable of carrying 100A. This was fine for my house until this unit was installed. It requires 3@40A breakers, which was no problem...plenty of room on the board. But now, whenever the hot water flows, the lights throughout the house start a pulsing. I've called my retail provider, my utilities service provider, and the service director several times over the last 2 weeks, and can't get anyone to get out here and run thicker copper. It's not too annoying, but I'm concerned that the wire's going to f...

Customer Review: Very "Mini" Water Heater
I wanted a mini water heater in my remodeled bathroom. After having it professionally installed, the plumber told me that he thinks the until is working, but....there is no hot water coming out of the faucet. I called the company and told them the unit clicks on but no hot water. They told me i must use the .65 per minute water flow limiter that comes with the unit. I didn't see one when i opened the box, so i went around looking in three different places for a water limiter of .65. Most people laughed when I told them what i wanted, saying that amount would barely wash your hands at that low of a flow rate and mixing it with cold water might make it feel instantly cool. It seems that this unit is a waste of money. Perhaps a mini water tank would be a better purchase.
Customer Review: Ordered 220 V
I ordered a 220 V for the caribbean but amazone's plumber send me a 110 volt unit. So i'm not happy. The problem to send it back for the good one is bigger then the loss.

Customer Review: Love it!
I'm trying to drink more tea, so I thought this product would make it a bit easier. Usually, after I drink a cup, I want another about a 1/2 hour later. Rather than having to use the stove to boil the water, I now use this kettle. It's much faster than the stove, because the water is already warm from the last time. I am drinking much more tea because it's so convenient. I love the fact that the unit shuts itself off once the water boils. I recommend this product whole-heartedly.
Customer Review: Beware of this misleading product!
What a disappointment to see Dr Weil - who I have always respected as a health authority - put his name on such an inferior and misleading product as this. First of all, as another reviewer mentioned already, this product IS made in China, NOT Switzerland, as the name "Spring Switzerland" clearly was meant to imply! Secondly, the "transparent body" of this kettle is made out of Lexan - a plastic - and not glass. It is NOT healthy for boiling water to be in contact with any kind of plastic, especially a plastic made in China that could have all sorts of impurities in it! China is notorious for a lack of quality control and oversight of the manufacturers throughout its country. The fact that Dr Weil saw fit to put his name on a product that opted for using such inferior material and using the misleading manufacturer name of Spring Switzerland is very disheartening. If he is capable of doing this, what other corners has he cut on all his other products - especially his supplements? Are the...

Customer Review: Never got to use the product
Received the first product but the round cut outs from the manufacturer were not cut correct to accept the pressure relief valve and the stopper plug. Replaement sent quickly; however, it was damaged in shipping. Returned for refund. Customer very good but manuafacter and shipping damange an issue.
Customer Review: Great little heater
This is our 2nd Ariston heater - the first is a 4 gallon under the kitchen sink. We got this one to sit in our basement bathroom and feed it, the main floor bathroom sink and a future 1/2 bath on the 2nd floor. It just makes so much sense to keep a small amount of hot water ready to use right near the fixture. That way you don't have to waste a bunch of water if you need hot water. These seem very well insulated, so I think that the standby losses are negligible. Our main heater is a gas tankless, and these really help improve the performance for intermittent uses such as washing hands or dishes. I just put this inline with the tankless, so that it can "smooth" out our hot water. The tankless works best for steady uses, such as showers and filling a dishwasher. Adding one of these Aristons gives you the best of all worlds.

Ariston 2-1/2-Gallon Point-of-Use Indoor Electric Mini-Tank Water Heater #GL2.5

List Price: $188.00
Amazon Price: $139.00
Customer Review: Handy heater
Having instant hot water at the kitchen sink is wonderful. This was intended as exact replacement for unit that began leaking after about 2 and a half years. I have hard water (about 700 ppm) and did not follow the instructions about periodic dismantling and cleaning. The heating element accumulated a lot of scale and finally split apart and caused a leak at the base where the electrode mounts. The leak was very gradual and was not noticed until much absorbsion occured on flooring beneath the kitchen sink and mold appeared. Rather than attempting to clean the tank and replace the effected parts, I ordered a new unit. It turns out the new unit was slightly different in physical size. It was 1/2 inch wider and an inch higher requiring modifications to my under sink arrangement (R/O filter ect). I plan to clean the tank and replace the heating element in about a year, hopfully avoiding complications.
Customer Review: Installation ideas
Great little water heater. The outside plastic case doesn't even get warm on the highest setting; really well insultated. Some changes I made: - Used a different 110v circuit to avoid overloading dishwasher or disposer circuit. The nearby disposer outlet was switched and not usable for this anyway. - At first I plumbed the garage water heater as input to this little one, but realized that would just keep wasting the energy used to heat the long line of water that arrives cool anyway. So I plumbed the cold water to the input side of the 2.5 gal unit and it still works just fine. We just have to avoid running too much hot water unnecessarily like we did previously waiting for the hot water to arrive. - (While doing this replumbing, I also moved my dishwasher line from the hot to the cold water side since it has it's own water heater element. This means the garage hot water heater no longer supplies any hot water to this sink locatio...

Customer Review: NOT a whole house water heater!!!
Firstly let me say that this water heater is not appropriate for whole house use. It works fairly well with a faucet application but I was never able to get the water hot enough for a bath or shower at a normal gpm rate of 2-4 gallons. And I had three-yes that's right 3 of them. They all failed. I purchased this hot water heater online last August after much research and saw no negative reviews. The price was better than the comparable Bosch that my inlaws had installed and have been using with no problems. Each and every time a unit failed I dealt directly with Stiebel Eltron customer service reps at the home office in Massachusetts and they coached my installer and myself through multiple troubleshooting/pulling apart exercises to try to solve the problems over the phone. They had to send out a new unit twice during which time I had no hot water during the transit times, not to mention already having not had any hot water due to failure. If you do decide to order one of these ...

Customer Review: Ariston GL-4 is a great workhorse, had for over 6 years now!
This is a great product, the only real drawback is that with San Diego California's extremely hard water, it needs cleaned and a new anode rod screwed in every six months - I am finally breaking down a buying a wet/vac to make the job much easier. That being said, it is perfect for my condo that has never had proper hot water to the kitchen (in 20 years time). As my condo hot water heater is common to the entire wing, I made sure when purchasing this 4 gallon water heater that I could plumb the "hot" water into the "cold" intake of the water heater, and thus boost my "hot" water coming into my kitchen to a proper temperature for my sink, dishwasher, and front-load washer. To me it is so very well worth cleaning and servicing the unit every six months to have the luxury or proper hot water in my kitchen, and to know that when the condo hot water is on the fritz, I have hot water for my sink and appliances anyway. Since this unit has a convenient on/off switch on the front, I simp...

Customer Review: Great Smoker, Just Doesn't Hold Up
I have had 2 of these smokers within the past 2.5 years. On both units, the adjustable power source broke within 1.5 years of purchase. On the first unit, the heating element that attaches to the power source was also ruined. The warrantee was 12 months from the date of purchase, and no luck with the manufacturer after that period (I called). 50 dollars to replace the broken parts. I bought another unit instead, just 13 months after that, the adjustable power source has broken again. This unit was kept under a cover, indoors, when not in use. I love the ease of use of this smoker, and the final product it produces, it just doesn't hold up.
Customer Review: What you see is not what you get.
I bought this smoker because I did research on it on web and it is supposed to be one of the better ones on the market.Meco Model 5030 Electric Grill and Combination Water Smoker When I got my shipment and started the assembly the instructions were either vague or skipped over. The barrel was elongated, the lid does not fit well,(I have to bang on it to close it), the manufacturer incorrectly installed the pop rivets. The Temperature gage was way off. Would I buy this again? In a word ... NO!

Customer Review: WORTHLESS water heater
I would rate the unit at a negative 100. One of the worst items I purchased. Water would fluctuate, be too hot to stand on the lowest settings. This was installed by professionals in a new house. I got several error codes. Finally had enough and called tech support. I was on the phone 2 hours the first time I called and that was on hold. Then I spent another hour playing games with the unit. We spent over 10 hours talking to tech support over a month's period. I had to switch the unit on and off to get a bath. Tech support said the supplier told me the wrong unit to buy. Another tech support told me that that was wrong. I had to take off a lot of time to get the gas and plumbing installers to come back and check their work which was correct. Finally I had enough and called the supplier. They worked with me to get me a credit. By the way that supplier no longer sells Bosch. Just give me your money instead of buy the Bosch unit. I can hand deliver c...
Customer Review: Concept Good. Reliability, Durability, Servicibility BAD
My wife and I bought this from Lowes in summer 2006 thinking it would save our energy bills even though the initial cost for the unit and the required installation for a new electrical service to it was expensive. Right out of the box, the electrician we hired to install it had to order from Bosch a replacement control board because the one we got was bad. Fast forward to February 2008, and we had issues with the control board again and no hot water for showers. Now we are screwed because that part is not covered in the warranty and costs roughly $300 dollars. Not to mention, it was difficult to reach Bosch Hot Water Technical Support because they put you on hold for God awful long time and they are really not that much help. All it is now is a hanging piece of junk on our wall. So, now my wife and I have decided to invest in a normal electric water heater that would just cost more or less the same as purchasing the control board. Buyers Beware! The concept is great but, I do not recom...

Customer Review: I love it
When our hot water heater went out I began gathering information on water heaters. Because I am on a well and live in a draught stricken area watching 4 gal. of water go down the kitchen drain every time I needed hot water was nerve racking. I was considering putting the new water heater on the back porch closer to the kitchen and redoing the plumbing. Then I saw this little gem. It is the only one I saw that you could install in line with your house hot water. My daughter had the same problem so I bought 2. It wash't bad to hook up. Our biggest problem was pulling out our dishwasher so my husband could change something and give me a plug in for it. We both love them. Turn the knob, hot water. The fact that it is in line with my big water heater I thought was a real plus and no one had to change around any plumbing or look at a water heater on the back porch.
Customer Review: Nice water heater
Overall, this product works very well and we love not having to wait for hot water at the kitchen sink. The form-factor is also very convenient for mounting under the kitchen sink, unlike some other small point-of-use water heaters. I have this hooked up inline with a gas tankless water heater and I wanted to know how much this new heater was costing me in electricity, so I hooked up a meter to check it out for a few weeks. It turns out that, with our normal usage, it uses just about 5 KWH/week - which works out to about $2/month in our area. Before this heater, we had to run a full 2 gallons of water down the drain before getting hot water to the sink - which was both a big pain and somewhat wasteful. With this 4 gallon heater, we basically have an instant and endless supply of hot water at the sink since the hot water from the main tankless unit arrives before the water cools too noticeably. I've also noticed that it seems to heat water on it's own ver...
